We are a charity based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire empowering young people in Africa and the UK to help themselves by developing the skills and knowledge needed to find gainful employment or start their own business.
We do this by refurbishing donated tools to a high standard and shipping them to training centres and self-help organisations.
To get involved you can volunteer, donate your tools or give a virtual gift to change a life. Make an online donation, or buy a Workaid Gift. Share your skills and make new friendships. All you need is enthusiasm. Each year 80 tonnes of tools are saved from landfill, refurbished and sent to vocational training projects in East Africa and the UK.
Lodging will be provided as part of your Woodworking Retreat. If you are within a reasonable driving distance, you are welcome to stay at your own home and commute back and forth. Participants do not need to own or have prior experience with hand tools. Everything you need for your time with us will be provided. Your Support Makes All the Difference Your willingness to give makes it possible for us to serve those who have served.

However, there are some downsides to this option as well.
Another is that it can be time-consuming to post ads for all of your items, then maintain their quality by responding to questions and taking pictures. Another option is selling your tools and equipment on the Facebook marketplace. This can be a good way to quickly and easily get rid of your old woodworking tools and equipment without having to deal with shipping charges or finding buyers via Craigslist or elsewhere.
As an added bonus, the Facebook market allows you to sell items locally, which is often the best option for selling tools and equipment. If you have any slightly used and unwanted tools or building materials lying around, consider donating them to one of these charity organizations.
