Not only is every program uninstalled, they simply do not exist, as for your advice on anitvirus - yes it did have anti virus installed once! Do you understand NO programs exist either physically in files or in registery or services.

No services exist so the update managed to do a partial reinstall of windows deleting all programs. Do you understand the ramifications of that statement. But there were no updates to uninstall. The only fix was a format - clean reinstall.
